How can we recognise other Christians whose views of Genesis 1 differ with our view (which is correct- right?) and focus our fight in destroying unbelief?

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. ~ Genesis 1:1

When you read that, what do you think it means? Surely all who read that would assume that God created the heavens and the earth? Noooooo, of course not. I believe just what it says, but what does it say? Saint Augustine points out in his “Confessions” the idea ‘what does Moses mean by heavens, and what does he mean by earth?’  (For Moses wrote Genesis.) Could he mean a spiritual body and a formless body, or did God create a ‘formless mass’ and that evolved into our current world? A million theories could be pulled out of Genesis 1, but how do we know if someone has a different view to us and how can we focus our fight on un-belief?

It would really depend on what the person thought Genesis 1 meant. Say they thought God did not create the whole universe in one way or another. They might struggle giving their whole life for Christs will, or they might not give it at all. They might not go to God with their worries, for in their minds He could not help them with it because He is not that ‘smart’. The person then, would seem more loaded with cares, appearing like any other non- Christian with a grain of truth in their heads, that does God exist.

How can we as Christs followers try to eliminate these false ideas? First of all try keep in mind that we ourselves might be wrong about our ideas of Creation, no one really knows the whole in and outs, we just think we know. Be a friend to these people and through your actions and speech, show them the real all-powerful God that can handle their worries and 5 million other peoples worries in the world at the same time easily. Also, we should get to know scripture so that if anyone ever challenges us about our theories that we have answers (that is where I myself is somewhat lacking). To have bible verses memorized and on hand, and to be in touch with God. Dont worry, if you are stumped by one of their questions, tell them next time you see them you’ll have the answer. Remember, God needs to work through people to show His love for others that do not know Him, He needs YOU to stand up for what you believe in. Wait for people to ask about your faith, and let the Holy Spirit shine through your actions. Most importanatly be yourself, make sure that yourself is a person dedicated to Jesus Christ in everyway.

Keep your eyes focused on the race we all have to run!

What are your thoughts on the matter? I would love to hear about them in the comments section!
