“Both of you just listen for a minute,” Ben said. “Trying to ‘prove’ creation or evolution is impossible. Neither is a scientific theory.”
“He’s right,” Treadwall agreed. “I hadn’t thought of it that way before, but he’s right. A theory can be proved or disproved. It deals with something, some phenomenon that is observable and repeatable. We all learned that back in high school. But anything dealing with the beginning of the universe is unobservable and unrepeatable. The event, the birth of the universe, has already happened and won’t ever happen again.”
